Following Israel’s covenant commitment at Mount Sinai, Aaron gives Yahweh’s blessing to the people as they begin their journey to the Promised Land. What should have been a month or two trek for the 2 Million strong Israelite nation takes 40 years as recorded in the book of Numbers.

Ancient Israel meets Yahweh at Mount Sinai, receives Yahweh’s Moral, Social and Ceremonial Law, enters into a covenant with Yahweh and completes construction of the Tabernacle. They now are ready to follow Yahweh to the land he promised to their forefathers. However, their initial excitement and enthusiasm soon turns to distrust of Yahweh and Yahweh’s appointed leader, Moses. How will Yahweh respond?

Having already suffered the judgment of Yahweh to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until they all perish, the 1st generation out of Egypt continue to engage in a series of rebellions against Yahweh and their appointed leaders, Moses and Aaron.

Israel’s first generation our of Egypt comes to the end of their 40 year trek through the wilderness but not without experiencing further discipline and mercy from Yahweh for their continued rebellion against Yahweh and Moses. Snakes, Sex and Sorcery - it all adds up to the 2nd generation learning not to follow their parents example.
